About Us
Tulkul Arts and Media Collective is a youth-led, multidisciplinary cultural platform based in Kashmir, registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. We bring together art, theatre, music, and storytelling to celebrate the rich traditions of the valley’s folk artists.
At Tulkul, we care about the people behind the art. Through performances, workshops, research, and media projects, we support artists’ livelihoods, preserve cultural heritage, and create spaces where creativity is valued and shared.
Our work goes beyond art: we empower communities through education, offering workshops and mentorship that pass on skills and knowledge; promote awareness of environmental sustainability through creative storytelling; support mental and emotional wellbeing by providing spaces for expression and healing; and strengthen community development by connecting creators across ages and backgrounds, amplifying voices, and fostering social cohesion.
We believe that art is a bridge—to knowledge, to nature, to wellbeing, and to one another and that nurturing artists is key to keeping Kashmir’s cultural life vibrant for generations to come.

Mission
Our mission is to nurture and empower the next generation of artists who will carry forward Kashmir’s rich traditions, crafts, and
cultural expressions.

We are committed to supporting folk artists and their families, honoring the generations of knowledge and creativity they have contributed, and creating opportunities for their work to be respected, documented, and sustained.
Though we are a young collective, without large resources or widespread support, we are driven by passion, dedication, and the belief that even small efforts can help preserve and rejuvenate our cultural heritage for the generations to come.
Vision
We envision a vibrant and resilient cultural ecosystem in Kashmir, where artists—both established and emerging—are valued, supported, and celebrated.

A future where traditional arts, crafts, music, theatre, and storytelling thrive alongside contemporary expressions, and where communities actively engage with, learn from, and contribute to their cultural heritage.

We aspire to create a society in which the dignity of artists is recognized, their knowledge is passed on to new generations, and the richness of Kashmir’s creative legacy continues to inspire, connect, and empower people for years to come.
